Telkom’s Madaraka Life now a permanent tariff

Nairobi, Friday, November 26, 2021: In compliance with prevailing tariff regulations, Telkom’s Madaraka Life offering is now a permanent tariff.

Customers will now get to enjoy the Madaraka Life tariff by either paying a monthly cost of KSh.5, or making a purchase of any of the tariff’s monthly booster packs.

The tariff’s value proposition will see Telkom’s existing customers continue to opt-in upon a one-off payment of KSh 100 and get 1GB, 100 on-net minutes, and access to a preferential rate of KSh 2 per minute* to make calls to other networks. A 1GB and 100 minutes monthly starter pack will be credited to the customer’s account at the start of the next 30 day cycle, from the date they opted into the tariff. Three monthly Data booster packs, set at the following preferential rates: 1GB at KSh 75, 4GB at KSh 240, and 8GB at KSh 410, will also be available for purchase. A customer will not need to have exhausted the resources on the starter pack for them to purchase a booster pack. Existing Telkom customers will be able to opt in via the USSD code: *544*0#

New customers will continue to opt into the tariff upon successful registration onto the Telkom network and upon a one-off payment of KSh 100 onto their line. They will then get to enjoy 1GB, 100 on-net minutes, and access to a preferential rate of KSh 2 per minute* to make calls to other networks, monthly. The 1GB and 100 minutes monthly starter pack will also be credited to the customer’s account at the start of the next 30 day cycle, from the date they opted into the tariff. The three monthly Data booster packs, set at the following preferential rates: 1GB at KSh 75, 4GB at KSh 240, and 8GB at KSh 410, will also be available for purchase by customers subscribed to the tariff. The new Telkom customer will also not need to have exhausted the resources on the starter pack for them to purchase a booster pack.

Existing and new customers that subscribe to Madaraka Life will receive a one-off instant cashback of KSh.50 to their T-Kash wallet.

Telkom’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mugo KIBATI says:

“Data and other technology services are now a basic right. Telkom fully understands this and remains committed to empowering Kenyans to get essential technology services that simplify their lifestyles. In line with our objective to democratise access to the Internet and also guided by prevailing tariff

regulations, our customers will now enjoy the Madaraka Life tariff by making a KSh. 5 monthly payment, or by purchasing any of the tariff’s monthly booster packs.”

The use of Mobile Internet Data continues to grow, with the customer demanding for more competitive and comprehensive products that address their different and ever changing needs: browsing, downloading, streaming, mobile money transactions, reading the news online, and updating their apps; actions that are now vital to everyday life. The development of new products and solutions, therefore, will ensure that the customer, who is keen on the next best offer, will be able to benefit from offers that broaden and simplify their digital lifestyles.

Earlier this month, Telkom, together with its partners, networks and telecommunications company Ericsson, and systems integrator NEC XON, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to add an additional 2,000 sites onto Telkom’s network, by 2023. This nationwide rollout, is part of Telkom’s long-term network expansion strategy, announced in August last year, when it underwent a strategic reorganisation to address the digital transformation being witnessed, as well as lay the groundwork towards the company’s long-term goal to become the technology partner of choice in Kenya and the region.
